In Vitro fertilization is an assisted reproduction technique in which the oocytes are fertilized by sperm in the in Vitro fertilization laboratory, where the aim is to imitate natural conditions as closely as possible, for the proper development of embryos, which They will later be transferred to the woman’s uterus, so that they can implant and continue their development in a pregnancy like any other.
Traditional in vitro fertilization is a technique in which the oocytes are placed together with the motile sperm and with an adequate concentration, in microdroplets so that they carry out the fertilization by themselves.
When the concentration or mobility of the sperm does not allow this technique, it is possible to fertilize each of the eggs, by selecting sperm with good mobility and morphology, and then injecting them into the cytoplasm of each oocyte, so that fertilization occurs.
In Vitro fertilization is aimed at couples in which the woman has alterations in the reproductive system that prevent the sperm from reaching the oocyte, for couples who have already had 3 artificial inseminations with negative results, for women over 35 years of age or with low ovarian reserve or those with endometriosis and for couples where the sperm has anomalies that reduce the ability to fertilize or reach the egg.
